Saul Gomez Aguilar Plastic Artist, Male Human Figures | Celebrating the sensuality and beauty of chubby men.
Biography:
Origins and Education I was born in Guatemala and currently reside in Phoenix, Arizona, I studied at the Escuela Superior de Arte de Guatemala, a place that marked the formal beginning of my artistic path. From a very young age I knew that art ran through my veins. My childhood was filled with drawing contests representing my elementary school. When I traveled to the beach, I would create sculptures in the sand for fun and imagination. I remember that due to the lack of materials, I used to draw in the dirt, always standing out without formal instruction. These early moments shaped my passion and dedication to art.
Evolution and Style At age 15 I began creating erotic illustrated stories of some of my favorite cartoons from my childhood, and in 2019 I decided to hone my skills through specialized classes in light, shadow, human proportion, and various techniques. My art, influenced by the Baroque period, is characterized by an in-depth study of the human figure and a masterful handling of light and shadow. My work seeks to capture the essence and character of my subjects, highlighting their intrinsic beauty while continually evolving with new inspirations and techniques.
Inspirations The bear community is my greatest source of inspiration. Hearing their experiences and stories has shaped much of my work. Artists such as Tom of Finland and Rembrandt have been constant references in my search for a unique style that celebrates the beauty and sensuality of corpulent bodies. My work reflects not only the aesthetics but also the history, strength and resilience of the bear community, always seeking to convey a message of inclusion and acceptance.
Career My art has found its way into several galleries, both in Guatemala and Phoenix, Arizona, with my most recent participation being at Exposed Gallery on April 5, 2024. My works address themes such as religion and diversity, and seek to give a voice to those who often feel marginalized. I have collaborated with several institutions and art collectives, always with the goal of broadening the reach and impact of my work. My career is marked by a constant search for innovation and authenticity in each piece I create.
Mission and Vision As an artist, my mission is to help people feel good about themselves, represented, and accepted. Every day is an opportunity to learn and grow, and as long as there are people who appreciate my art, I will continue to create, without prejudice and without labels. My vision is a world where art can serve as a bridge between different cultures and experiences, promoting inclusion and mutual understanding. I aspire for my art to inspire others to see the beauty in diversity and to value themselves as they are.
